There’s so many different social media platforms available to help your marketing it’s easy to stick with what you know and play safe. With new ones cropping up all the time, there’s no need to jump on every single bandwagon that trundles past but perhaps a better strategy is to wait until a particular wagon achieves critical mass before taking the jump.
So perhaps it’s time to consider getting on board with Pinterest which has grown to have 70 million users in the 3 years since launch. For those not in the know, Pinterest is an image-bookmarking site, which means you ‘pin’ your pictures on a ‘board’ which other people can look at – and ‘like’, ‘re-pin’, link to Facebook, you get the drift.
This infographic, although based on US data, makes interesting reading. 80% of Pinterest users are women, 50% of all users have children, over 80% of pins are re-pins. The most popular age group is 25 – 34 year olds, 69% of users have found an item they’ve bought or wanted to buy.
So if you have pictures of items you have to sell, it may be time to mosey on over to the Pinterest bandwagon and check it out.
