Lavender Hill Mob Theatre Company

Press release for their series of summer holiday Theatre Workshops in King’s Lynn:

Don’t get bored this summer in King’s Lynn – get MAD!

Local charity and theatre company the Lavender Hill Mob are putting on theatre workshops 3 times a week in King’s Lynn during the school holidays, so school age children don’t have to get bored – instead, they could Make A Difference!

The focus of the workshops will be on using theatre and performance skills to have a great, fun time.   “Lavender Hill Mob Theatre Company works all year round, helping children and adults develop their acting and performance skills.  We will use these summer holiday workshops to help children learn some acting skills, take part in performances, and sing and dance”, said Mikey Miles, one of the workshop leaders.  He added “Most importantly, we’ll make sure all the children have a load of fun”.

Based at St Michaels Primary School on Saddlebow Road in South Lynn, the workshops will run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning next Monday, the 27th July.  There will be 2 sessions each day, from 9 till 12, and 12 till 3.  Each session will cost just £10, and the cost comes down to just £3 per hour if 10 or more sessions are booked at the same time.  The sessions are open to all children aged from 5 through to 18.

Demand for places is limited, and is expected to be high.  The Family and Childcare Trust, in their 14th annual survey on the cost of summer holiday childcare, found the average cost of a week’s childcare in 2015 to be a whopping £123.49, or about £25 per day, and 87% of local authorities admitted they didn’t have enough places to meet demand.

Mikey Miles said “By booking more than 10 sessions, parents can access local holiday childcare for just £18 a day.  And who knows, we might unearth the next West End or Hollywood star as well!”
